CCTV & Access Control
Our business thinking:
Who are our customers?
We fit very well with the small to medium size organisation who want personal service, a clear understanding of what will be provided and quality of installation. We hope to have a good and strong relationship with the customers we have so we know and anticipate the needs they may have and then on an ongoing basis we provide support, maintenance and information to keep compliant with legislation.
We have obatained excellent customer satisfaction ratings.
These are some of our customers we have completed work for.
- Hotels and Hotel groups
- Resturants
- Pharmacies
- Medical Centres/surgeries
- Motor Dealerships & Garage forecourts
- Student accommodation
- Apartment Blocks
- Homes
- Communtiry Halls
- Churches
- Large Venues and Assembly Halls
- Industrial Units
- Business Centres
- Solicitors and Estate Agents
Our approach to design.
We design, based on a good understanding of needs and use expectations. We then provide a detailed specifictaion with a plan of the scope of use and the requirements and limitaions of any legislation.
The plan is implemented and supervised by the sales team together with the installers to make sure the finished system fits the original plan.
Our target for the work region.
We will usually remain in Lancashire for our work. Sometimes we travel beyond if this is part of an existing group. This will keep the engineers working on what they do best rather than travelling the country. It also keeps our intended levels of consistency of oversight.
The products we use.
We use the best. We have consistently used Panasonic camera products for quiality and reliability.
We also use panasonic recording equipment where a high end solution is appropriate. For other solutions we use other reliable quality products. We will use only high resolution cameras.
We are developing and working towards having a strong reputation for our specilaist work with High Definition next generation equipment
High definition and IP based digital products are becoming more aware in the industry. There is still a lack of understanding and apprectation of the requirements of these systems. They do need a tachnical understanding to design and install to get the best from the product. High quality and specialist knowledge is where we excel to provide a system that is better than the rest
Customers choosing high definiation systems by Base will be able to have cameras that have a view to provide "situation awareness" (in other words a broader view of locations) and also within the recording the "situation detail".
Traditional system set ups anticipate where the activity for recording is most likely to occur and the lens setting will be to suit the images expected on a "close up" basis. With High Definition cameras and recording equipment, this view can be "wider" and for evidence puposes, a clos up from within the recording can reveal the dtail without "distorting" the image beyond its benefical use.
Traditional systems have, in the past, been the only "cost effective" system to consider unless the security or the observational requirements are more critical. The increased awareness and compatibility of the next generation equipment means that they are becoming more affordable and flexible in installation.
Traditional systems will continue to be used but the "next generation" restricitions of cost and expertise are no longer barriers to those who expect and need the best.
System Scenarios
Hotels and Restaurants
We have worked closely with managers to consider the security implications of a CCTV system.
We have used the latest offering from Panasonic for image recording using the Panasonic WJ RT 416(see below)
A 16 channel real time recorder capable of 400 ips (images per second). The latest version includes a DVD writer and previous versions a memory stick to transfer evidence from the hard disc drive. Its networking is also a feature that beats competitors.
Cameras (external)
Quality external cameras show colour by day and auto switch to monochrome when the light levels fade although with adequte "white light" the colour quality is retained. In areas where light pollution is an issure, infrared using Raymax suppliments (see left) creates light to give "bright" images in monochrome even in the darkest conditions.

Hotel visitors need to know that their cars are secure on designated parking areas. We will consider "statement" cameras so that those who commit crime will know the camera quality is good to be a deterrent value. This will sometimes mean the use of camerase such as the Panasonic WV CW 370/380 series with an all in one camera lens and housing (see right).
Cameras (internal)
Dome cameras to suit the environment and to avoid being too "obvious" and a customer distraction. The Panasnic CF284 is a great example (see left).
Cameras (at entrance/exit points)
The location set up and camera type is crucial. We often use Panasonic WV CW 480 series (see right) with SD111 to filter out bright light from glass doors and windows.
Covert Cameras
These are used as part of a system of supporting other cameras that can be "excluded" from view within a digital video recorder and where appropriate mini cameras for surveillance where thefts have been occurring.
Data Protection Act and Licensing
Appropriate advice and information is provided to ensure compliance. Some "sale of alcohol licences" are subject to stringent CCTV requirements. A system will be provided to fit specific conditions.
The design strts by fitting the requirements into the expectations. For an example, if the system is for Security and Safety, is it for security and training purposes?
Churches and Assembly Halls
The requirements can be very different.
The safety can be specifically for the safety of volunteer members. It could be that many visitors come to the premises and this could include vunerable people. If a complaint is made against the trustees or directed towards a volunteer, the CCTV is used to identify the context and circumstances. It also will ensure good behaviour on the premises.
It also is often used to support management of the building and monitor its use. It is used to observe "who left lights on or doors unlocked". These are issues to support training and development. At a glance observations of all areas will confirm best practice is in use at all times.
CCTV cameras are increasingly used to provide viewing of presentations, conferences and convention speakers around the building. Pan, Tilt and zoom cameras with a "joystick" controller into a video mixer can be used to overlay and mix Powerpoint and video onto screens around the building or projected onto a large overhead screen or even to other parts of the UK. By using high quality cameras but at a lower cost than "broadcast" quality, this can be achieved. We provide suitable TFT style monitors with tempered safety glass using secure a mounting kit.
For example, the Panasonic dome camera with an intergration kit can conceal the camera from obvious view without loss of facility. We have many other options to reach this objective.
Motor Dealership and Garages
Once again, high quality cameras are important tools in the "war against crime". Some insurance companies insist on manned security for out of hours observations. This, in sime cases, is more cost effective by linking using the ADSL Broadband network for video and audio transmission.
Using a decicated broadband "tunnel" and a series of detectors on ite, after hours movement activates an alert function for the security guard to tour the site by remote viewing to establish the cause of the detection alert. He can use the audio function to provide a "verbal warining" and notify that the Police are on the way or use it to verbally communicate to the Police on arrival.
From the network location, a copy of the evidence can be emmediately copied and provided to the Police without the need to visit the site where the activity occured.
Some equipment is available with a useful feature of image captute and can be emailed directly to those who need to know.
